WPTZ Channel 5 News Tonight - "Let It Rain"

The word is out. More on permeable pavers on tonight's evening news!
The TV station filmed the "before" project at the library and the "after"
project at another home in Winooski. The Interview was by channel 5 WPTZ news.

The Winooski Natural Resources Conservation District is offering a grant called
"Let it Rain"Our project (driveway and walkway) has been approved for this grant. According to WNRCD's website, this project, funded by the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) will act as a coordinated, collaborative effort to engage watershed citizens, volunteer groups, and city and town officials in focusing on the welfare of the Stevens Branch and the main stem of the Winooski River in the central Vermont urban centers of Barre City, Berlin, and Montpelier. Highly visible demonstration projects and watershed restoration projects will include riparian buffer plantings, rain garden construction, rain gutter disconnects, subsidized rain barrel purchases and distribution, and river trash clean-up efforts.

VPT is doing a report on water quality. Parts 3 & 4 of their "Bloom" series will be aired tonight. We were interviewed by WNRCD's District Manager, Justin Kenney, regarding our permeable driveway/walkway project.

Every household, business, town and watershed can be part of the solution to nonpoint source runoff. The key is to develop a new reverence for water and the ecological systems that clean it.
