Bathroom Time

We ordered two of these for the upstairs bathroom.
They should go well with the tub :)

Towel Warming/Drying Rack, just like the one I have at home.
I use mine for drying towels, bathing suits, winter hats and gloves.

Funky Faucets.... The base turns different colors as the water temperature changes.

Downstairs is now open - 2400+ pounds later.

The entire downstairs is now one big open room. All of the sheet rock, lights, and framing have been removed. Yesterday's weather was perfect for making trip after trip upstairs to load Pete's dump truck with construction debris. Pete tore it down and I loaded the truck. In order to dump the load at the transfer station, we had to get there before 1pm, closing time on Saturday.

With a 7am start, we filled the truck before noon. 2400 pounds later, we were back working at the library. We put a pile of scrap metal at the curb, as well as a bathroom sink. Hopefully it is gone by now. We still have a toilet to put at the curb, but by 4pm it was too heavy to remove. Why? My knees were begging me to "just say no".

Driveway has been APPROVED!

We are excited about not having to build a garage. This would have taken a good size chunk out of the main living space. Now we can have a dining room and a living room at the front of the building. Discussions went very well with the City of Winooski and with Public Works. The driveway will come in at a diagonal and will be larger than many other driveways that already exist on East Spring Street. 

The driveway will not be made of solid concrete or black top. We are looking at a few different ways to add a permeable surface, which will help with storm-water runoff and allow us to have more green space. More to come on that!

The Demo Continues

All upstairs shelving has been removed and given away.

Almost all of the sheet rock has been removed from the upstairs
Time to remove the framing, much of which we can use again.

The amount of space in the library seems to get bigger every day.

Final Load of Rug removed from the Upstairs. Gorilla Tape works great!

Except for the framing by the stairs (see below), which we will keep intact,
ALL sheet rock and framing have been removed from the upstairs.

 Four more loads of sheet rock and construction debris have 

gone to the Transfer Station. Flat fee for up 700 pounds.

Two loads of metal were brought to CSWD for recycling (no charge)
and one load of clean wood (also no charge).

Sorry to see the water fountain go, any buyers?!?  (the sink in the background is currently sitting on the front lawn with a FREE sign...) that didn't take long!

How to prep and clean the metal beams, and what kind of paint do we use? A Professional Coatings Representative from Sherwin-Williams is working with us to determine the best way to go.

Jake is working on the specs for the heating system and the ventilation; not to mention the electrical and plumbing specs!

Yesterday we agreed on the tile to be used for backsplash in the kitchen. And, we found the perfect counter top color for the library. Pics to follow shortly.
